Self Care Sunday

I have the courage to be the happiest, healthiest version of myself.

This is for You.

The best you.

The joyful you.

The powerful you.

The confident you.

The well adjusted, just like your

parents always hoped for, you.

The awkward but lovable you.

The coy you.

The you that you miss.

The kicking ass and

taking names you.

The you, you always wanted to be.

The you, you never thought

you could be.

The you that sits in the mirror

waiting for time to see you.

You may be out of moisturizer,

but you’re not out of time.

Give a little to yourself.

Because the best you,

requires a little time, with you.

(For once, it’s all about you.)

I am a mother, wife, best friend, granddaughter, teacher, career woman, cook, cleaner, daughter, sister… The list goes on and on! We are all juggling as much as we can in a day, and now with the COVID Pandemic, we have accumulated even more responsibilities as we absorb the role of teacher to our children. I know I am not alone when I say I am overwhelmed and exhausted at the end of the day. There are so many things I accomplished, yet so little I can say I did for me. Every time I close my bedroom door and read a book for 30 minutes, I feel quilty that I should be playing Legos or digging in the dirt outside with my son. Neither I truly want to be doing, but during this time I am also my child’s best friend. Again with the many hats!

I recently came across this quote, and I truly wish I could remember where I found it so I could give credit. It wasn’t me, though what it says resonated with me on a deep level. I have always been an advocate for women taking the time for themselves to go to the spa and get a facial, or have a girls date a winery. It can even be 30 minutes reading a book with a face mask on, or yoga by the pool! It’s these small moments in time that help to recharge our souls and help us be a better Mom. We can return to our children and feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to be present!

I know I’m not alone, and I just wanted to write this to remind all you beautiful women out there that we are doing the absolute best we possibly can. We are the super heroes of our life. But with that, we do deserve time to reawaken who we are, and what lights our soul on fire. So, I challenge you to take that time for yourself. Whatever it may be, take the time and do it! Do it for your kids, husband, family, friends… Do it for you!
